1000 Gecs
100 Gecs
When I first heard 1000 Gecs, it almost scared me. It's a volatile mix of metal, dubstep, emo, and ska (among other genres), yet it's undeniably poppy. A particular detail I love: 100 Gecs began work on what would become 1000 Gecs in order to have new material for a virtual Minecraft concert.

Before the Dawn Heals Us
M83
I think that several M83 projects could be described as cinematic, but Before the Dawn Heals Us is in a category of its own. It alternates between propulsive and contemplative, conjuring for me evocative scenes of car chases and melancholic reunions.

Age of Adz
Sufjan Stevens
Age of Adz is one of the most unique electronic records I've ever heard, as well as the first record I ever bought. I love its moments of orchestral grandiosity, of delicate vulnerability. It's wildly experimental, almost to the point of cacophony, but the surprises are practically endless.

Spirit Phone
Lemon Demon
I love playing this album around Halloween. It's buoyant and silly, with explosive hooks about love with incorporeal beings and urban legends. What truly cements Spirit Phone as a truly great pop album for me, however, is how my favorite song has shifted so often all throughout the track list.
